Juneteenth marks a day in 1865 that this country became more free Editor's Note: We published a version of this editorial last year to mark Juneteenth and have updated it for the 153rd anniversary of that momentous occasion.

Tuesday marks the annual recognition of Juneteenth. It represents the anniversary of the date — June 19, 1865 — that word of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas, officially freeing the last slaves held in the United States. It is an annual designation that has regional pockets of acknowledgment but which sadly remains unknown to most Americans. During the past several decades, both houses of Congress have paid lip service to federal recognition, with no real results.

Untangling Myanmar's trade in human hair! "Simply Unbel-Weavable!"

Aye Aye Thein, 55, cuts hair for a living at Insein market in the north of Yangon, Myanmar's largest city. 

But unlike most hairdressers, she doesn't charge her customers. Instead, she pays them. 

The country is a major source of human hair, feeding the global demand for wigs, weaves and hair extensions.

"Myanmar hair is the softest, most sought-after hair in Asia," said Aye Aye Thein, whose hair stall is nestled between those of a greengrocer and a betel nut seller.

Drake and Migos Team Up for a Tour: Check Out When They Will Be in Your City

Drake and Migos are teaming up!

Live Nation announced Monday that the platinum-selling rapper and the hip-hop trio will be hitting the road this summer for their upcoming tour, Aubrey and The Three Amigos Tour.

The 41-date tour will kick off July 26 in Salt Lake City and will visit cities across the U.S. and Canada including Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Detroit, Boston, Miami and Vancouver.

 

The exciting announcement follows the release of Drake's most recent singles "God's Plan" and "Nice For What." The tour will launch a month after the June 2018 release of his highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Scorpion.

Supreme Court lets states legalize sports gambling

The Supreme Court cleared the way on Monday for states to legalize sports betting, striking down a 1992 federal law that had prohibited most states from authorizing sports betting.

The court said the federal law violated constitutional principles limiting the federal government from controlling state policy. It unconstitutionally required states to prohibit sports betting under their own laws.
